    This document is intended for Acronis Disaster Recovery Service customers who are using Acronis Backup Advanced 11.x transport.

    The document describes manual update procedure for Acronis Backup Agent for Windows and all the additional components to the current version - 11.7 Update 1. 

    It is recommended to use the manual update procedure in the following scenarios:

    • When updating Acronis Backup Agent and its components within the OS is needed for the small groups of protected servers.

    • When updating Windows Domain controllers and Microsoft Exchange servers protected with application-aware specific Acronis agents.

    • When any other update procedures are undesired or not applicable.

     

    Solution

     

    HidePrepare for the Update

    Some notes to keep in mind before the update: 

    • Windows Administrator or Linux root privileges are required to perform the update.
    • In some rare cases, you may be prompted to restart the server after Acronis Backup Agent update. The restart can be postponed, still it is recommended to have a maintenance window available for it to complete at the earliest.
    • If you have any additional specific application-aware Acronis Agents installed on a server no additional steps are required. 
    • For the Linux machines prerequisites on this page should be met.
    • If there is no installation file AcronisBackupAdvanced_11.7_<BuildNumber>_en-US.exe (there <BuildNumber> in a number of most recent Acronis Backup Advanced product) available please submit a support ticket to Acronis Disaster Recovery service support in order to get the installation file. 
    Please refer to the list of current versions at the end of this article.

     

    Perform the update

     

    HideWindows Agents Update

     

    1. Copy the installation file AcronisBackupAdvanced_11.7_<BuildNumber>_en-US.exe to the server where the previous Acronis Backup Agent version is installed.
    2. Run the installation file with Administrator privileges.
    3. On the first screen choose Install Acronis Backup:

    4. Accept license agreement and click Next:

    5. Click Update:

    6. Check the summary screen and click Update button to start the process:
    7. Wait for the operations to finish:
    8. Check the update results and click Finish:

     

    HideLinux Agent Update

     

    1. Submit a requrest to Acronis Disaster Recovery technical support in order to get a download link for the installation file. 
      There are two installation files avaialble for a Linux agent: 
      • AcronisAdvancedAgentL_11.7_<BuildNumber>_en-US.i686  - for 32 bit Linux versions
      • AcronisAdvancedAgentL64_11.7_<BuildNumber>_en-US.x86_64 - for 64 bit Linux versions
    2. Copy the installation file to the server where the previous Acronis Backup Agent version is installed.
    3. Open Terminal and navigate to the directory where the downloaded file is placed.
    4.  In this directory, issue:
      chmod 755 AcronisBackup*
    5. Run the downloaded installation file as root.
    6. Wait for the update to finish.

     

    Troubleshooting

    If any errors occur during the update procedure, please take a screenshot of the error message and contact Acronis Disaster Recovery Support team with that screenshot using your DR Console account.
